AANNNDDD, I’m back!

For now. I’ve been busy. See, I got engaged. Woot!

And then I got a nasty diagnosis that led to some surgeries. Not so woot.  Now, I’m on my couch recovering and have time off from work. This  means LOTS of time to think. So I’ve been thinking about what I want to do with myself. I took a Myers-Briggs-ish personality test, in which I discovered I am the rarest of breeds, an INFJ. We represent only 1% of the population. So there you have it. I am a freak. A real special little snowflake.

From Wikipedia:

INFJs are conscientious and value-driven. They seek meaning in relationships, ideas, and events, with an eye toward better understanding of themselves and others. Using their intuitive skills, they develop a clear and confident vision, which they then set out to execute, aiming to better the lives of others….INFJs regard problems as opportunities to design and implement creative solutions.

INFJs have been mistaken for extroverts, as they tend to possess multiple personalities due to their complex inner life; however, they are true introverts. INFJs are private individuals who prefer to exercise their influence behind the scenes. Though they are very independent, INFJs are intensely interested in the well-being of others. INFJs prefer one-on-one relationships to large groups. Sensitive and complex, they are adept at understanding complicated issues and driven to resolve differences in a cooperative and creative manner.

INFJs have a rich, vivid inner life that they may be reluctant to share with those around them. Nevertheless, they are congenial in their interactions and perceptive of the emotions of others. Generally well liked by their peers, they may often be considered close friends and confidants by most other types; however, they are guarded in expressing their own feelings, especially to new people, and tend to establish close relationships slowly. INFJs tend to be easily hurt, though they may not reveal it (except to their closest companions). INFJs may “silently withdraw as a way of setting limits” rather than expressing their wounded feelings—a behavior that may leave others confused and upset.

INFJs tend to be sensitive, quiet leaders with a great depth of personality. They are intricately, deeply woven, mysterious, highly complex, and often puzzling, even to themselves. They have an orderly view toward the world but are internally arranged in a complex way that only they can understand. Abstract in communicating, they live in a world of hidden meanings and possibilities. With a natural affinity for art, INFJs tend to be creative and easily inspired, yet they may also do well in the sciences, aided by their intuition.

Hmmmm, so what does this mean for me. For starters….I need to forge a new path for myself…Something in which I can use my creativity and compassion, my problem solving and “quiet” leadership skills. I do none of this now. We INFJs are known for taking on jobs too humble for ourselves. And I have done this. And…I need a change. Life-change planning commences now!

In the meantime, however, I have a wedding to plan and a surgery from which to  recover. I plan to get back to my crafting, cooking and climbing soon. All in good time.

Welcome back me!

  1. Hmmmm. Lots of food for thought here, Carrie. I’m on much the same journey of seeking myself. Go forth and prosper.

    • I suppose it’s a lifelong process, right?. We just need to be sure to be grateful and happy with our present situation while seeking to better ourselves for the future. Thanks for reading!

  2. Congrats on the engagement…what a wonderful journey to be on!! Personality assessment is quite interesting to me; it’s funny…I just had breakfast with a friend who is also an INFJ. I knew she was rare, but I didn’t really realize how rare till reading your post! All the best to you on a speedy recovery! 🙂

  3. Well that was fun. Came out a INTJ. When I read it appears correct. Got me a long way in career as circumstances allowed.

Glad you are back. I did miss your writting. All of what you say please do. Life is better doing what you are meant to do and not just grabbing what happens to come along. So use your intuitive skills and develop a clear and confident vision and set out to execute it.
